MOTT HAVEN, The Bronx (WABC) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in the Bronx on Wednesday.

Officers responded to 79 Alexander Ave. in the Mott Haven section around 5:50 p.m. for reports of a person shot.

In radio transmissions, a panicked parole officer was heard fighting back crowds on the street as she frantically called for an ambulance afer a shooting.

A police dispatcher struggled to make sense of it all.

"Who was shot?" the dispatcher said.

"A parolee was shot! Please send someone to 79 Alexander Avenue," the officer said.

Clarisa Alayeto watched it all play out in front of her.

"People were getting close, and they were like back up back up with their guns out," she said.
