Opting to ask forgiveness rather than permission led to further delays for Ed St. George’s development at 1704 Mission Dr., as City Council members Monday voted 4-1 to deny his appeal of Planning Commission, Design Review Committee and development director decisions on the matter.

To move ahead on the project, which includes the construction of nine hotel cottages and an event space within the village mixed-use zone, he will now have to remove from four units some of the half timbers that do not “emulate authentic appearance and pattern of historic buildings in Europe.”
