WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is prepared to deploy the National Guard to several American cities he considers crime-ridden, following the Guard’s deployment in the nation’s capital.

Speaking alongside FBI Director Kash Patel, Trump highlighted ongoing federal law enforcement efforts to combat crime in major cities across the United States.

“As a result of these efforts, violent crime declined nearly 20% nationwide compared to the same period last year,” Trump said. “And it was the safest and most peaceful summer in two decades.”

Despite the overall decline in crime statistics, Trump said several cities he calls “war zones” — including Chicago, New Orleans and Memphis — still have crime rates that are too high.
