US President Donald Trump, while interacting with reporters at the White House on Wednesday, claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that India will stop buying oil from Russia, a move that the US president describes as a “big step” in effort to isolate Moscow financially, Reuters reported.

Detailing about the decision, Trump said he has received assurances from PM Modi that India would stop Russian oil purchase “within a short period of time” and he described it as “a big stop”.
