PARKERSBURG, Iowa — A student from Aplington-Parkersburg is facing charges after police discovered stolen firearms in the student’s home yesterday evening.

The juvenile's family found one of the stolen guns in their home and promptly notified law enforcement. During the investigation, officers discovered the firearms and numerous other items believed to be connected to local car burglaries. Police reported that the family has been cooperative.

Bruce Tierney, the Parkersburg Police Chief, emphasized the importance of transparency and stopping rumors before they spread. "The main thing to get through is that there was never a threat to any institute or individual throughout our investigation," Tierney said.
