California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas and his brother, political consultant Rick Rivas, filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the speaker's former press secretary, Cynthia Moreno.

Moreno filed the lawsuit last month , alleging political corruption and retaliation. Moreno was terminated from her press secretary position in August following allegations that she made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature.

In the lawsuit, Moreno claimed that she had complained to the Legislature's Workplace Conduct Unit in February 2025 about unethical and illegal practices between the two brothers.
