GHENT, WV (WVNS) -- Lori Weaver Hawkins, Public Affairs Manager for Triple A said that gas prices in West Virginia are lower than they were at this time last year.

She said the price is about 14 cents lower than it was last October.

Hawkins said there are a few contributing factors that have caused the drop in price.

"Well, with the third quarter of 2025 ending in higher gasoline inventories and the seasonal transition from those summer grade blends to what are now the winter grade fuel which those are lower cost fuels to produce, consumers are likely to see these lower prices and perhaps dipping even lower at the pump in the coming weeks, that's true," said Hawkins.

Hawkins does warn that there could be unforeseen issues that could cause prices to rise again however.
