LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- National Latino AIDS Awareness Day aims to increase awareness of HIV and AIDS in the Hispanic community in the Las Vegas valley.

In Clark County, the Hispanic community made up about 30% of people living with HIV in 2023, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, new data shows HIV diagnoses increased from 2023 to 2024, emphasizing the need for awareness and testing.

“This is often due to a late diagnosis of HIV, which means that individuals have had HIV for a while before it progresses to AIDS or stage 3 HIV,” Raychel Holbert, health educator with Southern Nevada Health District, said.
