BILLINGS, Mont - The state is currently debating the location for a new psychiatric hospital as leaders work to address overcrowding at Montana's only existing facility in Warm Springs.

Recent legislation has allocated funding for a new hospital on the eastern side of Montana.

Billings emerged as a primary candidate back in August, but local leaders raised concerns about financial implications, leading officials to reconsider the location.

The Montana Department of Health and Human Services, alongside the Board of Investments, is spearheading the project. They are now accepting proposals from various communities on the eastern side of the state.
