SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — In nearly a century of Arizona high school golf state championships, only about 15 boys have managed to win back-to-back individual titles.

In two weeks, Notre Dame Prep senior Landon Ashcraft has the chance to make history as the first “big school” golfer and only the second overall to capture three consecutive state championships.

Ashcraft’s weapon of choice? The driver, which he wields with both power and precision.

“Definitely probably my most comfortable club in the bag,” Ashcraft said. “I feel like coach doesn’t like this, but on some of the drivable holes, I do like pulling out driver. Maybe some of the time I shouldn’t.”
