Almost eight months after it was envisioned, the starting five expected to return the Raptors to true NBA relevance finally took to the court.
It was only a pre-season game but it was at least a start as Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram and Jakob Poeltl played together for the first time Wednesday as the Raptors were beaten 110-108 by the Celtics in Boston.
As expected, there were moments of discombobulation in the first few minutes but things improved as the game rolled on.
The numbers were solid: Ingram had 20 points and 11 rebounds in a team-high 32 minutes; Barrett had 17 points and six rebounds; Quickley added 14 points and six assists; Poeltl had eight points and seven rebounds in just 20 minutes; and Barnes finished with seven points, 10 rebounds and
