HENDERSON, Texas — The Henderson Overton Branch broke ground on a $15 million rail line improvement Wednesday.

Local elected officials, economic development leaders and community partners gathered for the celebration. The project was made possible by an $8.48 million FRA Consolidated Rail Infrastructure & Safety Improvements (CRISI) grant and matching public-private investment.

The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs in East Texas while modernizing critical rail infrastructure.

The Henderson Overton Branch (HOB) freight rail line runs nearly 14 miles between Henderson and Overton, where it interchanges with Union Pacific. he HOB serves multiple industries and commodities including timber, aggregates, chemicals, asphalt, and more.
