DES MOINES, Iowa —
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is leading an effort to ban transgender athletes from participating in women's and girls' sports in Minnesota schools.
Bird filed a brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals. Eighteen other attorneys general signed on.
They argue the inclusion of athletes playing sports that align with their gender identity rather than gender at birth violates Title IX protections.
This comes as Minnesota schools could potentially be losing federal funding over the law.
