There’s a reason the Soo Greyhounds made Christopher Brown a first-round pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.
It’s just taken a little longer for everyone to see it.
Through three junior seasons, Brown’s stat lines told the story of a player still trying to find his way — 14 points as a rookie, 31 the next year, and just eight in an injury-marred 2024–25 campaign.
But through 11 games this season, the 19-year-old centre already has 10 points, and on Wednesday night in Saginaw, he turned in the kind of performance that once made him one of the most coveted prospects in Ontario as a 16-year-old.
In a 5-2 comeback win over the divisional rival Saginaw Spirit, Brown scored the tying goal to go with three assists, and was, as head coach John Dean put it, “the best player on the ice.”
