After a long and tense summer, Russell Westbrook is no longer a free agent. He just signed a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings. The 2017 NBA MVP is expected to play backup duties for Dennis Schroder, the team’s starting point guard.

The Kings could’ve done this sooner to avoid all the drama, but there was a bit of a presumed hesitation on their part. Perhaps they were trying to seek a younger player to fill that position. Nonetheless, a decision has been made, and Westbrook heads back to play in California for the second time in his career. Reportedly, the team’s star trio of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan pushed hard for the signing to materialize.
