The U.S. consulate in Tijuana issued a security alert on Wednesday night, urging U.S. citizens to avoid the area near the state attorney general's office in Playas de Tijuana following an incident.

The incident happened at the anti-kidnapping unit facilities at around 7 p.m., according to the Baja California Attorney General's Office.

"Initial reports indicate the attack included explosives with multiple explosions reported," the consulate said in the alert.

The state attorney general's office said part of the building, four private vehicles and two official vehicles were damaged. No injuries have been reported, officials said.
