Wednesday marked the start of the third week with the government shutdown.
"Politically, how this plays out is an interesting question. Generally speaking, these things resolve in favor of the president,” said Dr. Jesse Crosson, a political science professor at Purdue University. “Congress has generally been the one blamed for this. This is different in, in at least one way, which is Republicans have unified government."
Crosson thinks President Trump is picking and choosing which federal employees to furlough.
"He said he wanted to target, I think he said the Democrat leaning ones,” Crosson explained. “It leads me to believe, even though Democrats technically are to blame for not giving the votes, that President Trump actually welcomes this opportunity"
