Major developments have now surfaced following the arrest of the survivor’s boyfriend in the alleged gang-rape case of a second-year MBBS student in Durgapur. Reports indicate that the boyfriend allegedly ‘lured’ the survivor into the forest, and then left her alone for 45 minutes.
Following his arrest, police confirmed that the boy had taken the victim off the campus, spending approximately 45 minutes without her, before returning to the premises. The incident was neither reported to police nor disclosed to anyone at the time, suggesting possible complicity.
The arrest has now intensified scrutiny over his role in the crime. Accordingly, Durgapur police have secured a seven-day remand to investigate his involvement and to determine whether he collaborated with other accused persons.
