In October 2025, the Commonwealth Sport Executive Board suggested Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The final confirmation will come at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly which is held on November 26 in Glasgow. This decision is a crucial milestone for India and it will strengthen its chances of hosting the 2036 Olympic Games.

India’s Major Step on the Global Sporting Stage

If the plan goes through, Ahmedabad will become India’s second city to host the Commonwealth Games after Delhi (2010). Most events are expected to take place in Ahmedabad, with some in Gandhinagar. The bid was prepared after long talks between the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Sports Authority of India (SAI), and Commonwealth Sport.
