YOUNGSTOWN The two men vying to lead the city of Youngstown through its first post-ARP era term will go head-to-head in a debate hosted by 21 News this afternoon.

The debate will begin at 2 p.m. and run for approximately one hour, streaming on the 21 News app, WFMJ.com, as well as the 21 News Facebook and YouTube pages, and smart TV app.

Incumbent mayor Jamael Tito Brown is seeking his third term as mayor, the first to do so since term limits were eliminated by city council in the early 2000s.

Brown is being challenged by political newcomer Derrick McDowell , a native of Youngstown’s south side and owner of Youngstown Flea.

The debate will be an open-format discussion and will cover topics including crime, economic development, and strategies for navigating the years ahead follow
