The Clark County School District’s yearslong effort to reduce water usage continues as every high school soccer, baseball and softball field is being converted to artificial turf.

The district says it has spent about $195 million so far on the project and has budgeted another $64 million to complete the conversions. The investment will have returns: The Southern Nevada Water Authority will give CCSD rebates of up to $23.5 million for making the switch, according to an agreement between the entities.
