The retail real estate sector is seeing increased attention. While the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) ecosystem is currently dominated by office assets, growth opportunities are emerging in retail malls, shopping centres, and mixed-use developments. Consolidation of quality retail assets, steady consumer spending, and rising urban incomes are factors supporting this trend.
Data from ANAROCK Research estimates the retail REIT market could reach between INR 60,000 – INR 80,000 crore by 2030, representing roughly 30-40% of the total REIT market, projected to touch USD 25 billion (INR 2 lakh crore) by 2030.
