A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by pilot Pushkaraj Sabharwal, father of the deceased chief pilot, along with the Indian Pilots Federation, seeking an independent investigation into the Air India flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad. The petitioners said they had lost faith in the probe conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and requested a court-monitored inquiry or a court of inquiry.

They also demanded that the new investigation team include independent specialists and aviation experts. The plea further seeks to halt all AAIB investigations and transfer all evidence to the proposed court-supervised committee.

The Supreme Court is expected to hear the matter after Diwali. The crash occurred on June 12, when an Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft traveling
