The father of late pilot Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who died in the June 12 Air India crash of flight AI171, has approached the Supreme Court seeking a judicially monitored investigation into the tragedy that claimed 260 lives, including 241 passengers.

In a writ petition filed jointly with the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) on October 10, 91-year-old Pushkaraj Sabharwal requested the constitution of a “Court Monitored Committee” to re-investigate the Air India Dreamliner crash, citing “lack of transparency and credibility” in the ongoing probe by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
