Ask a local World War II veteran about the secret to his longetivity and his answers are just as heartwarming as they are sincere.

Edward "Ed" Edmiston, who turned 100 years old on Oct. 3, credited his century of living to his commitment to staying active, hard work, his commitment to his Christian faith and his church, and his dedication to his family.

"To live a 100 years is a great reward," he said.

Edmiston was the center of attention at not one but two special parties, as a host of family and friends — many traveling from places like Washington, Florida and Texas — to gather for his milestone birthday celebration.
