SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - The City of Shreveport is beginning to finalize next year's budget and Chief Administrative Officer Tom Dark told city council to expect small decreases in city funds.
Dark said the 2026 budget is largely a continuation from this year. The general fund is $320.5-million. Sales tax revenue is projected to grow by 2% next year which will cover payroll and health care costs. However, that increase is less than this year's growth of 2.7%. The retained risk fund will cost more to meet rising insurance costs and claims.
What is smaller is the Community Development budget because the Main Choice Neighborhood grant is ending along with a decrease in federal funding. The Metropolitan Planning Commission's budget is smaller because of staffing, but could increase next
