HAMMOND, La. (WAFB) - A teen has been arrested after allegedly bringing a gun and drugs to Hammond High School, deputies said.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the 16-year-old is charged with the carrying of a firearm by a student on school property, possession of marijuana, firearm-free zone, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.

The investigation began on Monday, October 27, after authorities were told about a student suspected of being under the influence of drugs.

Deputies said they then discovered that the student had marijuana, THC, and a vape in his school bag. They added that the student also allegedly had a stolen gun.
