Oscar-winner Rami Malek credits the hit series Mr Robot for changing the course of his career and helping him land the role that would win him an Academy Award.

The 44-year-old actor, who starred as socially withdrawn hacker Elliot Alderson in the USA Network thriller from 2015 to 2019, said the show’s impact on his life and career was immeasurable. Speaking at a special live taping of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Malek reflected on the series’ legacy as it marked its 10th anniversary. “Looking back on it now, this show changed my life,” he told the audience. “I owe an immense amount of debt and gratitude to everyone involved. I learned so much from it. I was able to carry myself a certain way going on to future projects.”
