GPs can now prescribe 'nature' - with patients under doctors' orders to go on park walks, listen to birdsong or watch leaves flutter in the breeze. ‌

Instead of doling out antidepressants to Brits complaining of mental health issues or referring them to psychiatrists, medics will recommend people harness the power of Mother Nature to get over the blues. ‌

Some 150 health professionals in the West Midlands have received training to help the first 1,000 locals under the RSPB’s Nature Prescriptions scheme. ‌
