Plans to build the UK’s first indoor drive-thru ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging hub in Aberdeen have been given the green light.

The go-ahead was given by Aberdeen City Council for Fastned to build the brand new hub inside one of the city’s warehouses.

It will have twelve ultra-rapid charging bays, offering drivers up to 100 miles of range in 5 minutes from 400kW chargers. A shop, toilets, and a seating area inside the building will also be available to drivers while their vehicles charge.

The hub is expected to open next year, with a winter 2026 opening targeted.
