ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The annual open enrollment window for Medicare just opened. This is the federal insurance program for those 65 or older or some younger people with disabilities.

It's the time of year when everyone who's eligible can make changes to their plans. You have some time before the December 7 deadline, but we spoke with Dave Kirst, insurance manager for AAA, who encourages everyone to take care of everything now.

He says there are some big changes that could lead to some confusion heading into 2026.

"There are a lot of changes, especially in the Rochester market right now," Kirst explained. "There have been a lot of terminations in plans, which means someone is going to have to actively enroll and choose a new plan — it's not like the old days where you just kept your
