ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused of provoking a group of people playing basketball at the University of Central Florida and threatening one of them also pretended to be a police officer while he was being detained, according to his arrest affidavit.

Darius Rivers, 27, of Miami, faces charges of assault and falsely impersonating an officer, records show.

Rivers was arrested Wednesday by UCF police who found him at the university’s Rec and Wellness basketball courts. It was in the same place he was accused of approaching a group of five males playing basketball around 5 p.m. that day, asking them if they were Jewish, if they were from Israel, and what their Social Security numbers were, the affidavit states.

Rivers is accused of telling the group that they did not belong in the U.S.,
