A body has been found in the search for a missing Ayrshire man.

John Doherty, 60, was reported missing from home in Ayr on Wednesday afternoon (October 15).

On Thursday afternoon, police confirmed a body had been found in South Ayrshire during searches.

Glasgow Live reported this morning on the urgent search for Mr Doherty , who was last seen in the Sanquhar Farm Road area of the town around 3pm on Wednesday.

The body is yet to be formally identified, though police said Mr Doherty’s family has been informed.

Police said there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Doherty’s death.
