WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has formally unveiled plans for a new triumphal arch near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.
Trump showed off the plans Wednesday evening to attendees at a dinner thanking donors for giving money to his $250 million White House ballroom project .
The plans show the "Independence Arch" would stand on one end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, which crosses the Potomac River and connects Virginia to the District of Columbia and Lincoln Memorial.
Trump showed off several miniature models of the proposed arch, which will feature Lady Liberty on top in three sizes, although Trump acknowledged that the largest was his favorite.
