Bengaluru: A college student was brutally murdered near the railway tracks behind Mantri Mall in Malleswaram on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Yamini Priya (20), a B. Pharm student. According to police sources, Vignesh, who is suspected to have been in love with her, allegedly killed her after she rejected his proposal.

Police from Sheshadripuram Police Station have registered a case and begun an investigation.

Reports indicate that Yamini left home around 7 a.m. to attend college and was returning home in the afternoon when the accused followed her on a two-wheeler. Near the railway tracks, he allegedly slit her throat and fled the scene. Due to severe bleeding, Yamini died on the spot.
