The images after a truck slammed into a pedestrian overpass in D.C. in 2021 are hard to forget. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt.

Since then, D.C.’s Department of Transportation has lifted and rebuilt pedestrian bridges over DC-295 in Northeast.

One of the older bridges, the Nash Street Bridge, is set to come down – and the work is expected to cause extensive traffic delays.

DDOT says traffic will be completely stopped at times between 8 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday. Major overnight lane closures are expected too. The work is scheduled with weather permitting but it does look like it will be clear.
