Tripura Police handed over the bodies of three Bangladeshi nationals who were lynched by a mob on suspicion of cattle theft on October 15 in the Vidyabill area of Khowai district.

Police said a case was registered at Champahoar Police Station after the three bodies were recovered. “After investigation, we found that they are Bangladeshi nationals. After the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the Bangladesh Police and Border Guards of Bangladesh through the Paharura border area,” officials said.

Authorities reported that the deceased allegedly attacked villagers with sharp weapons, critically injuring two locals when they were caught stealing cattle. In retaliation, a crowd beat the men, leading to their deaths on the spot.
