A man has appeared charged with attempted murder after a 'hit and run' near the home of a member of the notorious Daniel crime clan in Glasgow.

A 51-year old pedestrian was rushed to hospital after allegedly being struck by the vehicle on Dalsetter Avenue in Drumchapel on Monday, October 13.

Mark Philip Hughes, 49, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court today charged with attempted murder, assault to injury and to the danger of life. He was also charged with failing to stop and report an accident.

He made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

He is expected to appear again within eight days.

The incident came after a man was rushed to hospital in a separate nearby attack on Friday.
