There are a number of villages and towns in Cambridgeshire that have some unusual names or ones that aren’t pronounced like you may think. A pretty village in Cambridgeshire has a lot to offer - and its name often trips up those who are unfamiliar with it.
One of these is Thriplow. Located eight miles south of Cambridge, despite having a “th” in its name, this is silent. Instead, it is pronounced as “trip-low”.
Despite having a difficult name to pronounce, the village is full of pretty houses, a community pub and is considered a prime commuter location. It has also previously been named as one of the best places to live in Cambridgeshire.
