GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two men escaped a house fire in Grand Rapids early Thursday morning by jumping out of a window.

According to the Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD), around 1 a.m. crews were called to the area of Ashland and Curtis Streets on the city's northeast side for a house fire.

GRFD said there were heavy flames and blown-out windows when firefighters arrived.

Officials said two men escaped the fire by jumping from a second-story window and using a balcony to get down.

Lexi Loop, a friend of the residents, said that when she heard that her friends' house was on fire, she rushed over.
