Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi Wednesday made a surprise visit to the Government Middle School Thandal in the remote Pangi region and found the entire teaching staff absent while students stood in the open. He recommended suspension of four teachers.
The minister’s personal staff broke the lock of the school rooms, so that the students could sit inside. Later, Negi directed the Pangi Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to submit a detailed report explaining why teachers did not arrive when the students reached the school around 10.30 am.
A senior officer said, “The suspension of four teachers out of five was recommended. Further administrative action is being taken.”
Sources said the Revenue Minister was on his Pangi visit when some villagers stopped his convoy at Thanda
