What one dog thought was a chew toy ended up being a spicy treat and a fire hazard instead.
When Colton's humans were out of the house, he started sniffing around their countertop. He found a lithium-ion battery , a ccording to the Chapel Hill Fire Department in North Carolina.
Surveillance video from inside the house then shows the dog lying down on a rug, munching away on the battery in the living room. But when smoke starts shooting out of it, Colton, who looks confused about what his new "toy" is doing, immediately stands and stares at the chewed-up battery and runs away before it catches fire. A cat is also seen running up the stairs in the family's home.
