BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - John Morrow, a Quad Cities martial artist who raised thousands of dollars for local children’s charities, died at age 73.
According to his obituary , Morrow died Wednesday after a battle with lung cancer.
Morrow set a Guinness World Record for push-ups and was a tournament champion who taught martial arts to thousands in the Quad Cities, a media release said.
His death comes after the 47th anniversary of the opening of his school, Morrow’s Academy of Martial Arts, in downtown Moline, Illinois, according to the media release.
Morrow was known for his annual fitness challenge on his birthday, where he did 1,000 push-ups, 1,000 sit-ups, and 1,000 leg lifts in one hour to raise money for the local children’s charities, the media release said.
