After eight years on the school board, Commissioner Douglas Fischer hadn’t had enough public service.
Fischer, 55, applied to fill the Commission seat left open in late 2023 by I-Ho Pomeroy, who resigned after a cancer diagnosis. After two years on the commission, Fischer is now running for mayor.
