Shae Cornette was given the First Take hosting job by ESPN on Thursday, naming the SportsCenter anchor as the replacement for the departed Molly Qerim who abruptly left the show and the network last month.
And as you would expect, she's thrilled.
"Thank you for all the support," she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after ESPN made it officially official with an announcement. "Excited for this next chapter!"
Cornette will start on Monday, Nov. 3 with the daily sports debate show, and as you can see below, Stephen A. Smith welcomed her with lovely things to say about his colleague who will be working with him:
What did Stephen A. Smith say about Shae Cornette?
Per the ESPN release:
“Hosting First Take is no easy assignment. It requires confidence, toughness, and real sports insight — and Shae brings all of that and more. I’ve seen her command the desk with poise and passion every time she’s hosted. She’s the real deal, and I’m thrilled to have her officially join the team.”
