A few months ago—what feels like years in 2020s time—I sat through Netflix’s The Electric State . It was probably one of the most miserable film experiences I’d ever had the misfortune of enduring.
This hulking monstrosity of grotesque anti-art that somehow cost 320 million dollars to make truly stands as a monument to some of the worst tendencies of modern filmmaking—it’s a stretch to even apply that term to it.
