Comox Valley RCMP are inviting residents to a ‘Haunted Cell Block’ tour on Oct. 29 – an idea that’s sparked some online feedback, though organizers say it’s meant to foster fun and community connection, not make light of serious matters.

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the police will transform the detachment cells at 800 Ryan Rd. in Courtenay into a spooky scene where visitors must help “watch the prisoners” as strange things begin to happen, noted RCMP.

Const. Monika Terragni, media relations officer with the detachment, told CHEK News the event is meant to bring some positive Halloween fun to the community, making local connections and for the community to come together.
