The University of Louisville Health system announced Dr. Jason Smith will serve as its next chief executive officer, according to an Oct. 16 news release.
Smith, who is entering his seventh year with UofL Health and most recently served as the system's chief medical officer and interim chief executive , will lead a system made up of nine hospitals, four medical centers and roughly 250 other locations spread across Kentucky and southern Indiana, according to the release.
The appointment of Smith as permanent CEO comes after Tom Miller retired from the position effectively immediately in June. Miller served as UofL Health's chief executive for six years.
