Michigan cities are opening historic cemeteries to share their past and a few spooky stories this Halloween season.

Cemeteries in metro Detroit, west Michigan and northeast Lower Peninsula are opening for the public to take a stroll among Michigan's old graves, and hear about local legends.

Whether you're seeking the thrill of a Halloween-themed tour or simply looking to explore the region's past, there are plenty of options to choose from this October.

Visit Detroit's historic Elmwood Cemetery for the first Elmwood Alight , on the evenings of Oct. 17-18, hosted by the cemetery and the Historic Elmwood Foundation, the group said in a news release. Cemetery gates open at 7 p.m. with last entry at 9:30
