Mumbai was left sweltering on Thursday as maximum temperatures touched 36 degrees in the suburbs as well as island city division. After reeling under scorching heat throughout the day l, several pockets of Mumbai as well as neighbouring districts like Thane experienced rain activity on Thursday evening.

Data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) showed that on Thursday, the Santacruz observatory in suburbs recorded 35.9 degree Celsius, which is 2.2 degrees above the normal, while the Colaba coastal observatory registered 35.8 degree Celsius.

After experiencing high humidity levels throughout the day, thunderstorms and rain activity lashed Mumbai as well as neighbouring districts of Thane on Thursday evening.
